The silent room breaks out into sudden laughter.
Several rowdy and rambunctious nationalist boys—all
crammed into one room—commence with chants, gestures,
and camaraderie; such as ―hot sauce, the classic wave, and
the ever popular ―GO NATS, complete with suggestive
hand movements. What is the scene in question? It is none
other than the Nationalist party caucuses and platform
discussion.
But the Nationalists are not all play and no
work. The Nationalists adopted a platform including many
crucial topics: alternative energy, health issues, the West
Virginia image, highway improvement, state welfare program
reformation, the education system, and the improvement
of the economic system by fostering new markets and
job opportunities. According to Joe Snopps, Chairman of
the Nationalist’s party, (the platform) ―is something that
can truly aid West Virginians, after a long political process,
it truly displays what our party (the Nationalists) hold valuable.
Regarding Nationalist candidates in the election,
Snopps stated that ―the Nationalist candidates are strong,
confident, and charismatic. On his party at large, Snopps
said ―we have fun, a lot of fun, but when it comes down to
business we are in for the long haul and willing to go the
extra mile. Thus, the stage is set and the Nationalists are
ready to put forth their best men and take on the state elections.
